pictkura ("the app") is written by one person as a hobby and published free of charge under the MIT licence. By using this app, you agree to the following terms.

1Licence
The app is provided under the MIT licence. You may use, copy, modify, redistribute and sell it, as long as the copyright notice and the licence text travel with it. That text governs; this page is only a guide to it.
2No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. There is no promise that it will run in any given environment, that it will read any given file format correctly, or that it will continue to be available.
In no event shall the author be liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app — including the loss or corruption of photographs, videos or other data, and loss of opportunity.
Keep a second copy of photographs that matter before you use any tool on them. pictkura always deletes through the recycle bin and verifies file sizes after each copy on import, but it should never be the only place your work exists.
3Your photos and data
The app does not re-import your photos into a catalogue of its own; it works with the files in the folders you point it at. Deleting always goes through the operating system's recycle bin — the app never removes a file outright.
What the app collects and transmits is set out in the privacy policy. Your photographs are never sent anywhere.
4Scope of support
Bug reports and requests are welcome at GitHub Issues, but no response time, fix or outcome is promised. There is no individual support desk and no telephone support.
Security issues go to the same place. Depending on what you find, you may be asked to hold back the details until a fix is out.
5Third-party software and material
The app builds on a large amount of open-source software. Copyright notices and licence texts are collected in THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.txt, which also ships inside the distributables.
Some capabilities — HEIC / HEVC decoding in particular — depend on components supplied by the operating system. Their availability, quality and cost are set by their own vendors.
The photographs visible in screenshots on this site and in the manual are CC0 / public domain works from Wikimedia Commons.
6Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute relating to the app or this site shall be submitted to the Japanese court having jurisdiction over the author's place of residence as the court of first instance.
These terms may change without notice; any change is published on this page with a new revision date.
